What is a Vision?
Visions are the “Why” behind your purpose at work. They are what motivates, inspires, and fills your best future life with meaning. Visions are values-driven, job-related, aspirational, and shared. Coaches (managers, mentors, leaders), coachees (individual contributors, supervisees), and company leaders (HR, company admins etc.) can all create and share visions in iAlign.Work.
Creating a vision:
Creating visions is quick and simple! To begin, click “Create vision” in the upper right corner on either the dashboard or vision board
Steps
1.) First, select one of our whimsical 6 options (or shuffle for a new batch), search for a topic that fits with your vision, or feel free to upload your own picture from your desktop.
2.) Crop and select which part of the picture you’d like shown…
3.) Scroll down. Enter a title and description for your vision. We recommend titles of 10 words or fewer. Descriptions can include as much or as little additional detail as you would like to share.
4.) Decide on the start and end date of your vision. You can choose to turn off the “end date” requirement if you would like, which is often appropriate when you are creating big, career-long, aspirational visions as they cannot be more quickly accomplished. In contrast, time-oriented visions, like a company focus for a specific year or new department initiative may benefit from having a start and end date. To specify the dates, click on the calendar icons in the date range and click on the date you would like the vision to begin (be live) and end.
- Start date: required for all visions. Today’s date is default filled
- End date: required unless you toggle that requirement off (to “no”)
- Target Linking: Optional. If you already have targets (goals) created, you can choose to “link” your visions to specific individual, department or company targets.
5.) Visibility. Select the bubble for your desired visibility setting. You can make your vision public to the organization, able to be seen by those in your department, visible only to a small group of people that you specify by “tagging” them in the vision, or private for only you.
Woohoo! You have entered all the information you need! You should now see a preview of your vision at the very bottom.
6.) To save and publish your vision, scroll back to the top of the vision screen and click “save.”
How to view visions:
From the dashboard: click the visions icon (heart with lines). This takes you to the Vision Board, which displays visions you have created as well as other colleagues' visions (if permissions for visibility include you directly or as a colleague/public) and company visions.
Interacting with visions:
You can encourage and support the visions of others by offering words of encouragement or leaving a comment.
To select an affirmation phase, click on the thumbs up icon below someone’s vision. A cloud of 30+ phrases will appear and you can then click on whichever option resonates with you. You can also write your own words of encouragement by clicking on the written message icon below the vision, typing a comment, then pressing enter or clicking the paper airplane icon to submit your comment.
