Creating your first Check-in

A step-by-step guide

Check-ins are an integral part of the target experience! Check-ins are important moments of connection or exchanges of information related to a specific target. They are also an opportunity for calibration between coaches & people assigned the target. The check-in provides constant alignment and regular touchpoints via messages, surveys, and shared multimedia from coaches and supervisors to their people.

Check-ins are both structured and adaptable, making them an effective way to collaborate in a wide variety of workspaces and industries. Check-ins should be used to gather or share frequent, focused, future-oriented feedback. Check-ins can be gathering quick feedback, sharing learning materials, or sending out surveys such as skill tracking measures, custom surveys or other tests.

Types of check-ins

As of the last updating of this article, there are 3 customized and 1 quick check-in available in iAlign. You must decide on which type of check-in you want to use before creating one…

  • Learning - Used to send learning materials such as articles, videos, or other forms of trainings. Learning can be automated within the iAlign system to speed up learning and ensure recognization of on-the-job learning, growth, and skill development.
  • Survey - Customized surveying experience which can be used to create a survey, test knowledge, or collect other data from your people
  • Skill rating survey - Can be used to ask for community/muli-source/360 style feedback on skill development. This is a quick way to gather information on how often someone behaves in ways that are either helpful or hurtful to any 1+ of the iAlign propietary 35 skills!
    • Note, skills rating surveys are unlocked by tagging the skill to the target first!
  • Request feedback (a quick experience with only a few choices) - Used to get quick feedback or support from your team, we set certain defaults like how long the recipients have to complete the check-in and provide a shorter list of premade questions to speed up the creation process!

How to create a check-in

You can make a check-in in one of three ways…

1.) The first is while creating a target, if you already know check-ins you want to use, you can add a learning, custom survey, or skill rating survey or search from the check-in template library from the very bottom of the create target workflow.

2.) After a target has been published, you can also add check-ins when editing the target (you can edit from the blue “Actions” button on the top right of the target details).

Or 3.) directly from the target details from the check-ins tab by hiting the button on the top right of that bottom section!
