Introduction to Templates in iAlign

A very quick overview to get you started with understanding templates

Templates in iAlign are a fantastic way to invest a bit of time upfront, saving loads of time and amplifying your impact down the road!

💡
Templates in iAlign are the “what” or content that can be reused multiple times. You can update the “who” and “when” each time you use them.

Why Use Templates?

Templates are your go-to for any process you repeat frequently. For example, most organizations find templates invaluable for onboarding new employees and conducting 90-day reviews.

Who Benefits the Most?

Templates are particularly beneficial for individuals and teams that perform repeated processes frequently. HR teams, Operations departments, and Learning and Development teams are great candidates to leverage the power of templates.

Types of Templates in iAlign

In iAlign, you can create two types of templates:

  • Target Templates
  • Check-In Templates

How to Use Templates Effectively

Here’s a handy tip: if you're planning to create a comprehensive target template with multiple check-ins, start by creating the check-in templates first. This way, you can easily add them via the check-in lookup when creating the target template. Otherwise, if you add check-ins directly to the target template, you can't convert them into check-in templates later; you'll need to do it manually.

Template Visibility

  • Company Admin Templates: Any template created by a company admin will be a public company template, visible and usable by everyone in the organization.
  • Other User Templates: Templates created by other user types will be saved as private templates in "My Templates."

Setting Up in Advance

While templates are the “what” without the “who” or “when,” you can set up these details in advance for check-in templates!
